TINTS Contact lenses can be obtained in many different tints. It is very common to have a light tint in the lens so the patient can see the lens when it is dropped in the sink or on the counter top. These tints are referred to as handling tints. Brighter or darker tints are also available. These are dark enough to enhance or slightly change some eye colors, especially patients with light colored irises. These are referred to as enhancing tints. Other lenses, most commonly hydrogel lenses, are also available with patterns or colors to change a patient’s eye color even from dark brown to blue. These are often referred to as opaque tints.
